Butler Accepted to Fine Arts Academy

Shurya Butler receives award

University City High School student Shu'Rya Butler has been accepted to the Missouri Fine Arts Academy for their Summer Program. This is a wonderful Interdisciplinary Arts program that past students have loved and have described as having such an impact on them.  Shu'Rya will be staying in a dorm at Missouri State University and attending classes and workshops from June 4-24. She will earn college credit.

Missouri residents who have been accepted into the Missouri Fine Arts Academy for 2017 will attend for free! The Missouri Fine Arts Academy is fully funded by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for 2017.

Shu'Rya is talented and has worked hard for this prestigious honor. She and classmate Lily Greenberg recently had a mural on display in the public art show at the University City Public Library entitled "All Houses Matter". The mural is part of a social commentary project featuring opinion art from students at UCHS. Please join us in congratulating her and district District Visual Arts Facilitator Marnie Claunch.
